Domestic Disaster Response Newsletter November 12, 2024 Dear Friend, This past month Brian visited The Vine Anglican (Clyde, NC), Redeemer Anglican (Asheville, NC), and St. Andrews (Edneyvile, NC) to check on them personally as they continue to recover from Hurricane Helene. Many people have said that one of the best things is to support the local economy! If you are in the Asheville area, consider stopping by to dine at a local restaurant, or purchase Christmas gifts at one of the stores. Many local people rely on tourism for their livelihood, and your support goes a long way in rebuilding the community! Disaster response trips in NC are in full swing, and we are working with our national partners to line up opportunities in FL after Hurricane Milton. Because of the quick response of our Network, local churches could continue valuable ministries in their communities! Fr. Travis Lowe in Tampa, FL shares that “The ability to open that food pantry immediately after the storm has created so much momentum in our community, we’ve started to see neighbors visit our church as a result.” We also remember and pray for the other sites where we have worked, such as Rolling Fork, MS and Dawson Springs, KY. Even though much of the national focus has shifted towards the recent hurricanes, they are not forgotten! We are honored to continue walking alongside them as they also continue to rebuild. One last praise – the Lord is working through video! Silent Images, specializing in visual storytelling for nonprofits, has already visited the area to capture the stories of survivors and volunteers. Thank you for your support! We cannot do this relief and recovery work without you! Brian Stewart Psalm 34:18 |
We’re feeding the hungry throughout the north. Our Mission Organized in 1987, The Manna Food Project is a private 501(c)(3), non-profit corporation, comprising a food bank and food pantry. Our goal is to assure that not one person in our distribution area is hungry. As a warehouse, we distribute to pantries in Emmet, Charlevoix, and Antrim Counties. Visitors to those pantries receive food products at no charge. We operate through financial contributions from individuals, organizations, grants, United Way, and the volunteer efforts of many people. Our warehouse and offices are located between Petoskey and Harbor Springs, Michigan. |

Northern Chaplain Services OUR BELIEFS It is not the chaplain’s role to bring their values and beliefs to those they serve or replace a patient’s clergy or other sources of support. Instead, they meet patients, family and Colleagues where ever they are on their personal journey and provide support appropriate to the circumstances of each encounter. A chaplain may also assist those with specific desires to locate the appropriate resources to meet their individual needs. Eucharist is regularly provided for patients of the Catholic faith by Eucharistic Ministers from two local parishes. Contact Us Chaplain support is available, via the Hospital operator, for emergent needs 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week for all patients, families, and Colleagues. Non-emergent needs may be communicated to a chaplain via voicemail at 231.487.4509 or email at nmhchaplain@northernhealth.org. Hours The Chapel is open 24-hours-a-day as a place for prayer, meditation, and respite. Christian prayer is offered every Wednesday at 12 Noon and is open to everyone.
